The Art of Printmaking: Series 2
Running throughout the duration of SOLACE (23 Nov - 24 Dec ) and produced by Edinburgh Printmakers, this trio of discussions offers up a snapshot of Edinburgh Printmakers’ members work on show in Gallery 1 and 2. Celebrating the diversity of work presented in the first members show to take place since our move to Castle Mills, these online events will be conversational, facilitated in-turn by CEO Janet Archer and Programme Producer Tiffany Boyle.
The exhibition reflects the solace people have found in the arts over the past 18 months, and the beauty of a form which provides deep satisfaction and joy for both makers and audiences. The pandemic has been a challenging time for forms of artistic production such as printmaking which require physical processes, and members have produced at home using alternative work-arounds, have returned to the studio on re-opening, whilst for others the demands of the pandemic have put a pause on production entirely. With work spanning print on paper, textiles and ceramics, ‘SOLACE’ culminates our programming for 2021, and we celebrate the work of our members over the last two years and the return of our studio into production mode.
