Artist's Talk and Tote Bag Screen Printing
Paria Goodarzi
On Sunday 11th December, meet Paria Goodrazi, an inspiring multi-disciplinary Iranian artist who has just completed her In from the Margins residency with Edinburgh Printmakers.
Paria will be speaking about her work made in the studio, which was etching focused combined with screen-printing techniques, embossing, and then using the copper plates to make a sculptural installation. Her work made on residency is centred around the relationship with her mother and how she is unable to communicate and connect dur to the only option being through digital communciation.
There is also the opportunity to screen-print a tote bag in Solidarity with the Women of Iran, which is a movement that is very personal to Paria.
Based in Glasgow, Paria has just completed a Masters in Adult and Youth Education alongside her own artistic practice and community arts projects. Community within the arts is a drive within her work to form meaningful relationships and connections to people. Her work revolves around cultural and political transfers and translocations, the ideas of the contemporary human condition, cultural identity and political issues that resulted in an ambivalent coexistence of civilised life, conflict and displacement.
Goodarzi is UNESCO RILA Affiliated Artist-founder of the art initiative 'Distanced Assemblage' with the aim of making a positive impact in the wellbeing and visibility of people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds by providing opportunities to engage with creative practice. The programme helps people and communities connect through making and creativity to promote a sense of belonging and inspire positive changes in their lives and environment as well as projects, events and public art interventions related to contemporary social and political issues.
