On 15th March, please join us for an artist's talk to mark the closing of Bernie Reid's solo exhibition 'Ornamental Breakdown', in conversation with Morwenna Kearsley. Taking place in Gallery 1 amongst Bernie's work, the conversation will be followed by a short Q&A.

Bernie Reid (b.1972 Stirling, Scotland) is an Edinburgh-based artist whose body of work over a 30-year career includes mixed media paintings, trompe l'oeil decorative rugs, graphic screen prints and sculpture. Originally completing a diploma in Illustration in 1997 from Telford College, Edinburgh, Reid later returned to education and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2010 with a BFA in Painting and Drawing. Reid often employs mediums and techniques associated with graffiti such as stencils and spray paint in his work. His mixed media paintings use these techniques alongside traditional oils to depict abstracted and psychedelic figurative forms influenced by the subcultural practices of sampling and hacking established culture in order to create new identities.
Morwenna Kearsley is a Glasgow-based photographer. She photographs objects that reveal part of who we are, as individuals and communities, from museum artefacts and personal effects to discarded scraps, draped fabrics and textiles. She studied for a BA(Hons) in Photography, Film & Imaging at Napier University, graduating in 2007. With the support of a Leverhulme Scholarship for Fine Art, she received an MFA from The Glasgow School of Art in 2015. She often collaborates with other artists and non-artists via workshops, evening classes and community arts projects.
