Exhibition Preview - Uprooted Visions
Castle Mills, Fountainbridge
Edinburgh Printmakers invites you to join us for the launch of our upcoming exhibition:
Saturday 1st April 2023
6:30-8:30pm
Uprooted Visions marks the culmination of the 2-year programme of In from the Margins, a two-year progreamme of artist residencies funded by Creative Europe. This project, led by Edinburgh Printmakers, is a collaboration with AGA LAB, Amsterdam, Netherlands; Cork Printmakers, Ireland, International Centre of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, Slovenia; and Funen Printmaking Studio, Odense, Denmark.
Uprooted Visions is kindly sponsored by StayCity.
This exhibition features work from 30 international artists, whose practices have been disrupted by the lived experience of migration. Each artist was awarded a non-prescriptive month-long residency to provide space to experiment, explore and work with studio technicians to discover new techniques or develop current projects. Uprooted Visions presents a range of work created in print, textiles, video, sculpture and photography.
Uprooted Visions and the In from the Margins project have been made possible with the support of the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union. Additional support provided by: City of Edinburgh Council, The National Lottery Heritage Fund through Creative Scotland, the Arts Council of Ireland, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and the Embassy of Slovenia in London.
More information can be accessed on the exhibition's viewing room, here.
This event is free admission, all welcome, especially people from refugee communities rebuilding their lives in Scotland. We encourage booking online in advance. Availability on the evening will be dependent on capacity, refreshments will be served.
This exhibition will be open to the public from Sunday 2nd April - Sunday 2nd July, Tuesday-Sunday 10am-6pm.
