Laser Cut - Expanded Practice (3 Day)
On Sat 4, Sun 5 and Mon 6 May, this expanded laser cutting course will introduce the use of a laser and show you how to prepare vector files from your drawing or photograph. Explore how to cut or engrave a variety of materials such as paper, plywood and acrylic. You can start from original drawings or sketches, or bring digital files on a USB stick. Printmaking is not part of this course, although you will be given the tools to create laser cut substrates that you can combine with traditional printmaking at a later date.
Participants of this course may be eligable for a relief induction to develop their practice in the studio.
This expanded course will give you time to fully understand the laser cutting machine through experimenting in order to understand what it is capable of and to develop your works to a fuller extent.
This course is suitable for those who have no experience of laser cutting, although experience with digital imaging is highly recommended.
