Queer Anthologies - A Zine Making Workshop for Pride 2023
This is a pay what you can event. On Thursday and Friday evening on 22 & 23 June, join a creative workshop for people identifying as LGBTQI+ to develop a creative voice through image making, writing and collage in the format of a zine.
Through collaging a myriad of contemporary photographs, personal and lived experiences with archival imagery, zines directly engage with our continuing queer timeline. People will learn about the history of zine making as a form of collective craft that publishes and documents marginalised experiences. Reference will be made to the lesbian archive in the Glasgow Women's library as well as the Edinburgh Zine Library.
The workshop will be a safe space so participants can discuss their own lived experiences verbally and within the creative process.
We encourage participants to bring their own hard copies of materials, such as personal photographs, creative writing, poetry and found images - things that speak to their queer identity. Join us in this form of collective craft making and go home with your very own zine.
This event is running on a Pay What You Can basis. The recommended ticket price is £15.
