Relief Induction Session

This 3.5-hour self-directed session acts as your first day using the studio, where a technician will be on hand for some support and guidance. Come ready to print! Please bring along a carved block of lino or wood to print - as this is an opportunity for you to refamiliarise yourself with the nuances of relief printing at Edinburgh Printmakers, and an opportunity for our technician to set you up for membership. If eligible, we will get you signed up to one of membership schemes on the day.
-Please bring a notebook so you can refer back to your notes when you work independently in the studio.
You will be given an induction into the relief printing department, how it works, how to set up your workspace in either a prep area or on a printing press, how to purchase materials, health & safety procedures, cleaning up protocol etc. We ask that you bring a pre-carved block (lino or wood) to print during the induction, or you can purchase a new block to carve and proof a simple image so that a technician can be there to answer some technical questions that may naturally arise during your first day using the studio.
Who is it for: Aspiring members with experience in relief printing, who are ready to work independently in the space, but need some support and guidance to get started at Edinburgh Printmakers.
When: Wednesday Evenings or Friday Afternoons. See Calendar for dates available.
