Relief Printing - Advanced Course with Anupa Gardner
On the 6th and 7th of April - this course is ideal for individuals who have previously participated in our relief weekend or evening classes, or those with some background in relief printing seeking to enhance their skills with established artist and printmaker Anupa Gardner. You will learn how to etch lino and combine it with traditional cutting. You will also be shown how to create multi block prints and register your blocks on the press. You will have the opportunity to try out mark making with dremel, paper stencilling, Chine colle, and combining collagraph with relief printing.
On the Saturday participants will explore different 'resists' and build up layers of etch on their lino blocks using caustic soda paste while also using traditional cutting methods. There will be the opportunity to create a collagraph block and proof the locks. Later in the day participants will be introduced to colour, multiplate printing, and registration.
On the Sunday participants will continue working on their blocks for a short period of time. The remainder of the day will be dedicated to exploring various printmaking techniques, such as Chine colle, paper stencilling, and combining collagraph with relief printing.
