Castle Mills: Then & Now | Whose Gallery Is It Anyway?
"Whose Gallery is it Anyway?" challenges traditional notions of art curation and invites the community to take charge of our gallery space. Anyone can contribute artwork and help curate the exhibition. We aim to reflect on our heritage and social role, encouraging people to rearrange and add to the exhibition as they see fit. This interactive experience promotes discussion and learning in a welcoming environment. The exhibition will invite a wide array of artistic expressions, including printmaking, drawing, textile, sculpture, and performance. With the display evolving continuously, we reflect on the role of curation and the ownership of gallery spaces.
Bring an artwork – hang it up – move them around!
Everyone contributing work will receive a 10% discount on any purchase in our shop on the night of the Preview.

This… I Like It by Tiphereth Print Studio
This... I Like It is a joint curatorial project between Edinburgh Printmakers and Tiphereth Print Studio, part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund project Castle Mills: Then & Now. Taking inspiration from Tiphereth’s working methodology based on collectivity, inclusivity and shared ownership, this exhibition looks into curation as a collaborative practice. Tiphereth members were invited to explore the Edinburgh Printmakers Collection, selecting prints and responding to them based on their emotional connections with printmaking and shared practices of communal work. This... I Like It is a statement of intent, kinship and belonging, a selection of what draws artists to the medium of printmaking over and over again throughout the centuries and still today.
More information can be accessed on the exhibition's viewing room, here.
This event is free admission, all welcome! We encourage booking online in advance. Availability on the evening will be dependent on capacity, refreshments will be served.
