Alastair on the Archive - Exploring Past Editions
After the success of Gill’s event, we’re bringing back this series of talks for studio members only!
On Thursday 21st November from 5.30 to 6.30pm, explore Edinburgh Printmakers archive with Head of Editions at EP, Alastair Clark.
In the past 32 years, Alastair has worked on more than 300 print editions collaborating with artists such as Victoria Crowe, Alasdair Gray, Callum Innes, John Byrne and Rachel Maclean and many others. Alastair has led the studio for 16 years, as Assistant Director and Studio Director, following 3 years as Studio Coordinator and 11 years previously as Lithography Technician. He still remains hands on teaching Lithography and working with artists.
In an informal exploration Alastair will dig out the separations, proofs and final prints of these artists and talk in detail about some of the processes involved.
Covering a broad range of work including lithographs, screenprints, digital and mixed media and touching on working methods and stories behind the scenes as the prints were made.
The event is aimed at experienced printmakers wanting to develop their understanding and get a glimpse into the collaborative process of editioning with artists as part of a studio print publishing programme.
On the Archive series of events is part of our heritage project Castle Mills: Then & Now supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, made possible by money raised by National Lottery players.
