Edinburgh900 - Collaborative Drypoint Print Workshop

As part of the Edinburgh900 final celebration day, join us on Saturday 30th August from 10-12pm for a collaborative drypoint print workshop led by Elena, Miedina and Jude.
The tutors took part in several creative sessions over the course of last year and their creativity was especially piqued by drypoint etching using tetrapack, so they are now back to lead a workshop themselves.
During this workshop all participants will work collaboratively in re-drawing a heritage photo of the workers from the North British Rubbert Factory which used to exist on this site from 1860s to the 1970s. The photo will be split in sections through a grid and each attendee will receive a section to retrace and then carve and print using the tetrapack drypoint technique.
Finally, all prints will be placed and stitched back together to form a final rendition of the archival photograph.
This workshop will be a chance to learn more about the rich industrial history of Fountainbridge and reflect on its heritage and legacy. Participants will be able to share their own stories and experiences of the West of Edinburgh or hopes for its future. Stories produced during this workshop, as well as the final print, will be added to the final Edinburgh Printmakers 900 Stories in Print publication, forthcoming in 2027 for EP 60th Anniversary.
EP partners with the WelcoMe App by Neatebox, supporting visitors in indicating areas of or specific assistance they might require. More information can be found on our website accessibility page.
This event is supported by the City of Edinburgh Council, as part of the city-wide celebrations for Edinburgh900. Learn more about the 900 Stories in Print project here.
