misguided tours with gobscure (with BSL interpreter)
Artist-led tour uncovering magic and mystery at Edinburgh Printmakers, with gifts for all included. Expect prints, performance and participation by Edinburgh Printmakers' artist-in-residence gobscure (they/them).
Barely surviving in a homeless hostel after the worst sectioning of their life, gobscure stumbled across the art of Sergei Parajanov and fell in love with the childlike wonder and artwork of this ‘fat-mad-bisexual lifelong dissident’. For years, the Soviets tried to silence Parajanov for using art and film to speak out against authoritarian rule and questions the norms of society. gobscure's artist residency at Edinburgh Printmakers is part of an ongoing and wide-ranging exploration of playful dissent and creative resistance, inspired by Parajanov.
gobscure is a self-taught performer, writer, artist, sound-artist and believer in creative resistances. In collaboration with the studio team at Edinburgh Printmakers they have been exploring printmaking as a form of protest and performance. Working with different printmaking techniques and formats, exploring our building inside and out and engaging our communities, this exhibition promises to challenge and disrupt.
writing liberté with lips can be experienced in person, online or by booking a misguided tour.
