Summer Print Club

Join us this summer for some printmaking fun! From Tuesday 23rd July to Friday 2nd August 2024, these short sessions are designed to offer an experience of printmaking using accessible techniques and materials, encouraging creative thinking and problem solving in a relaxed and friendly space. Workshops run from 10am to 1pm with a wee snack offered! Tuesday 23rd and 30th: Drypoint Etching & Letterpress - Using the wall art on the outside of the building, pick one of the objects shown and re-imagine it in 2024. Wednesday 24th and 31st: Repeat pattern block printing - Create a floor or wallpaper design that could be used in the stairwell of the building that tells a story about its past. Thursday 25th and 1st: Book Magic - Create a book for the future - tell your story and imagine someone reading it in a hundred years' time. Friday 26th and 2nd: Printmaking from the recycling bin - Design a barge that you would like to live in on the canal - create it out of recycled materials, and then print it! Saturday 27th and 3rd: Lego Printing! Build it, Ink it, Print it - using Lego bricks and Lego dots to create designs and images with multi layers and colours. These workshops are suitable for children aged 8-12 years old. No need for adults to attend. Children can be dropped off and picked up after the course. These workshops are part of Castle Mills: Then & Now, a heritage project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project focuses on growing and diversifying community heritage activities to widen reach and engagement, working with people and communities to generate ideas for new activities.

Family Print Club

Full Price tickets = 1 Adult + 1 Child Family Print Club – These Sunday Funday sessions are designed for different generations to share an experience, explore some printmaking techniques, and have some fun into the bargain. 28 Jan: Experience your lego bricks in a completely new way! Ink up your bricks to create fun patterns and images. 25 Feb: Collage printing – create multi-coloured images with this fun technique using cut and layered inked up shapes. 31 Mar: Prints from the recycling bin – use cardboard, plastic and other materials to create some imaginative prints. 28 Apr: Mono screen printing - paint and print with a screen and a rainbow of colours. 26 May: Letterpress and simple bookmaking make some simple books and embellish them with lettering from our extensive collection of wooden letterpress blocks 30 June : Make your own family flag. Print on fabric and get creative while making your own family flag Price shown per session. Book one session or more as required.
