Screenprinting Developer Classes

Screenprinting Developer classes consists of 6 separate evenings. Screenprinter James Harrison will lead a series of in-depth demonstrations to aid you in developing your skills in each 3 hour session. Through examples, demonstrations and conversations, you will gain an understanding of what is needed to bring your screenprinting practice to the next level. This class is for people with recent screen printing experience. Please do not book if you are not familiar with the basics of screenprinting. Choose the class you want and book on that date. You can add multiple classes to your basket. Wed 25th of April - Alingment Techniques and registration Print projects require problem solving, where one alignment process, such as acetate alignment, may not suffice to create certain types of screen prints. During this advanced course participants will learn the various alignment process that are required to produce a variety of screen prints. Participants will learn about screen and paper stretch, tecniques that are required for artwork to fit together, how to set up tight registration projects and tips and tricks to help align artwork. Thu 2nd of May - Mono printing, Clean Flats and Colour Blending Although they may look simple, clean flat areas and smooth colour blends can be difficult to print consistently. This course will teach the technicalities that come with printing clean flats and setting up screens for printing colour blends. Participants will then be able to use pre-exposed screens to try out mono printing, painting directly onto the screen to create one-of-a-kind prints of their paintings through a variety of separations. Thu 16th of May - Large Format printing Large format printing can be a technical aspect of screen printing that requires consideration and thought before artwork is produced. During this course participants will be shown how to set-up the arm and learn about the natural things that may technically arise during the production of lage-scale screenprinting. This will include screen stretching, climatising paper, printing large format acetates and getting artwork to fit. Thu 23rd of May - Creating Screenprint Editions Editioning can be a complex part of screen printing where consistency is particularly important to create a uniform set of prints. This course will teach participants various tips, tricks and techniques that may be useful during the editioning process. This will include preparing deckled paper, preparing screens, artwork alignment, how to strain inks, proofing prints and printing editions. Image: James Harrison

Stone Litho Developer Class - Saturday Class

Stone Litho Development classes consist of bookable individual classes that take place on Saturdays from 11 - 5pm Lithographer Alastair Clark will lead a series of in-depth demonstrations to aid you in developing your skills in each 5 hour session. Through examples, demonstrations and conversations, you will gain an understanding of what is needed to bring your litho to the next level. Book your classes here individually, by selecting the date that matches with your chosen class below. This class is for people with recent Stone Lithography experience. Please do not book if you are not familiar with the basics of Stone Lithography. Topics: 18 May: Transfer Lithography. This one day class will explore some of the many intruiging ways of working with transfers in stone lithography. Structured with in-depth demonstrations and some hands on activities to aid you in developing your skills through examples. You will gain an understanding of what is needed to bring yout litho to the next level. The course will cover: • Gummed Xerox printing transfers • Ink Transfers to stone • Coated transfer paper
