Terms and Conditions
Concessions
Concessions are given to: students; unemployed persons, senior citizens (65 years and over), and disabled persons. To book as a concession you must provide proof of status when you arrive for your course.
Course level
Some courses require previous printmaking experience. Please ensure that the course you have booked is suited to your level of experience. Edinburgh Printmakers accept no responsibility from any issues arising from booking on a course which is too advanced for the course attendee.
Reservations
Reservations for courses are only available for participants from educational institutions and / or those who are seeking funding from third parties for course expenses. A reservation can be held for a maximum of one month prior to the course start date.
Cancellation by Edinburgh Printmakers
EP may have to cancel courses and we reserve the right to do so with a minimum of one weeks notice prior to the start date. Full refunds will be given for any courses cancelled by EP.
Cancellation by the customer
Full refunds can only be guaranteed for cancellations made at least 2 weeks in advance. If less notice is given, refunds are issued only if we are able to fill your place. It is therefore important to let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your course so that we can do our best to fill your place.
2+ weeks: Full refund
1 – 2 weeks: 50% refund
Less than 1 week: No refund
Edinburgh Printmakers printmaking courses are run with small class sizes to ensure access to equipment, hands on participation and individual guidance required for each individual to learning a printmaking process. As a charity our small group sizes mean that we run courses on very small profit margins and our cancellation policy ensures these numbers remain financially viable with smaller class sizes.
Cancelled places or transfers within a week of a course running are very difficult to fill; even if there is a long reserve list, people usually have made plans. If we are to offer a refund at this short notice, this may make the course unviable and would cause the course to be cancelled, inconveniencing everyone else on the course.
We ask if people are unable to attend at short notice that they consider offering their place to a friend or relative to ensure the place is used. In this case, we ask that attendees contact us to make us aware of change of attendee.
We cannot offer any exceptions to our refund policy under any circumstances including complications arising from travel, health or personal reasons. This policy applies for cancellation by the participant for any reason, including any reasons relating to Covid-19.
Pregnancy Cancellations
Due to the risk of airborne and dermal exposure so potentially harmful chemicals present in our studio, we recommend that pregnant people do not attend our printmaking courses. If you are pregnant and choose to attend one of our courses, you will need to sign a document stating that you are attending at your own risk. We recommend that you bring personal protective equipment, including a respirator mask with replaceable filters. Feel free to contact the studio directly if you need advice on what specific equipment to bring.
If you discover your pregnancy after you have booked onto a course at Edinburgh Printmakers, you are entitled to a full refund on request at any time. If you are pregnant and have booked a course with us, and on reflection decide that you no longer wish to attend, you are entitled to a 50% refund on request at any time.
Transferring to another course or course date
Should course participants wish to transfer to another course or course date, the same terms apply as for cancellation of the original course booked. i.e. free transfer to another course can only be guaranteed for those transferring two weeks prior to the course dates. Within a shorter timescale and at EP’s discretion, we may be able to grant a transfer with an additional £10.00 admin fee once we have been able to fill your place.
Course attendance
Course participants should arrive at the studio 5 minutes before the course begins. Any participant arriving more than 1 hour late, particularly on the first day, may not be able to continue on the course and will not be eligible to any refund.
Wherever any absence is anticipated participants should let the tutor know at least 48 hours in advance. This does not entitle the participant to any kind of renumeration.
Course participants must attend the full course (or every evening of an evening class) in order to use the course as an access course. If participants are unable to attend the first section of a course, they will need to arrange for 1-1 tuition with the course tutor to ensure that they are able to continue on the course. 1-1 tuition is charged at £36 per hour and must be arranged with the course tutor. No refunds can be given for failed attendance due to sickness or external circumstances.
Associate Membership
On successful completion of a full weekend course or evening class series you may be eligible for a free associate membership of Edinburgh Printmakers Studio for three months after your course. Depending on the complexity of the process and your previous experience you may be required to take further training in your chosen printmaking area before you can use this membership to use the studio independently. The tutor and studio staff can advise you on whether you need to take further training before working without technical support.
You are advised to book further courses, improvers and refresher sessions during your membership that will build on your skills learnt. As an associate member you will still be required to pay for session fees each time you use the studio. Free associate membership begins immediately after the course and cannot be deferred or delayed.

Vouchers
All EP vouchers (for courses) and gift cards (for the shop) have a 1 year expiration from the date of purchase.
Vouchers and credit that were issued during the 2020 pandemic were extended until the end of 2022. This is an extra year and 5 months since EP reopened from covid-related lockdowns. They have now all expired.
