Summer Print Club, Week 1, 6-8yr olds

From Monday 24 to Friday 28 July, these short sessions are designed to offer an experience of printmaking using accessible techniques and materials, encouraging creative thinking and problem solving in a relaxed and friendly space.

Workshops run from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm (with the same workshop repeated morning and afternoon but often with different results so children can attend twice to explore more).

Monday 24th: Letterpress printing - create some bold word art using our collection of wooden letterpress letters and different inking techniques.

Tuesday 25th: Printing with Lego: explore lego through the art of printmaking - build and print relief printing plates from lego!

Wednesday 26th: Prints from your recycling bin - explore drypoint etching with plastic milk cartons and juice boxes. Children will draw into the cartons with etching needles, then ink up in different colours to create small scale prints.

Thursday 27th: Art meets Science with kitchen sink lithography. Bringing the kitchen into the studio, children will use chocolate spread and other surprise materials to draw. This magical process will be brought to life in this fun and engaging workshop to create a small litho print.

Friday 28th: Pressing matters - Children will make blind relief prints with no ink and no mess, creating a textured 3 dimensional plate to produce an embossed image from your imagination.
