Summer Print Club, Week 1 6-8yr olds
Running over 3 weeks for 3 age groups, these short sessions are designed to offer an experience of printmaking using accessible techniques and materials , encouraging creative thinking and problem solving in a relaxed and friendly space.
Workshops run from 10-12 and 2-4 (with the same workshop repeated morning and afternoon but often with different results so children can attend twice to explore more).
Tuesday: Colour & Form Playing with abstract shapes and colour to create relief prints. Using card, cardboard, bubblewrap and other materials this session will explore colour and shape and layering colours to create new ones, using different inking techniques.
Wednesday: Prints from your recycling bin Drypoint etching with plastic milk cartons and juice boxes. Drawing into the cartons with etching needles then inking up in different colours to create small scale prints
Thursday: Art meets Science,Kitchen sink lithography Bringing the kitchen into the studio – using chocolate spread and other surprise materials to draw with .This magical process will be brought to life in this fun and engaging workshop to create a small litho print
Friday: Pressing matters Making blind relief prints – no ink, no mess Create a textured 3 dimensional plate to produce an embossed image from your imagination
